Butchers’ Preferences for Rabbit Meat; Ahp Pairwise Comparisons versus a Likert Scale Valuation

چکیده

Our paper analyzes butchers preferences toward the attributes and levels for fresh rabbit meat. We compare results obtained from alternatives approaches of data collection: a) the traditional pair wise comparison of AHP (AHP1) and b) the direct valuation by mean of a 9 point likert scale transformed in a a subsequent step to estimate AHP (AHP2). The data used in this analysis was obtained from faceto-face questionnaires with butchers carried out during May-April 2010. The final sample consists of 50 butchers mainly located in Barcelona. Results obtained from the two approaches of data collection show similar rank of the preferred attributes and levels. However, the obtained weights from both approaches are not totally similar.

Decomposing the Value of Rabbit Meat. a Joint Use of the Contingent Valuation and the Analytical Hierarchy Process

Our paper makes use of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in order to derive the willingness to pay (WTP) for complex goods with a range of attributes and attribute levels. Weights obtained from the AHP are used to decompose the aggregate WTP obtained from Contingent Valuation (CV) in a hypothetical simulated market. The empirical analysis uses consumer-level questionnaires to elicit inform...

A comparative study of the numerical scales and the prioritization methods in AHP

In the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a decision maker first gives linguistic pairwise comparisons, then obtains numerical pairwise comparisons by selecting certain numerical scale to quantify them, and finally derives a priority vector from the numerical pairwise comparisons. In particular, the validity of this decision-making tool relies on the choice of numerical scale and the design of p...

Integrating patients' views into health technology assessment: Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) as a method to elicit patient preferences.

BACKGROUND Patient involvement is widely acknowledged to be a valuable component in health technology assessment (HTA) and healthcare decision making. However, quantitative approaches to ascertain patients' preferences for treatment endpoints are not yet established. The objective of this study is to introduce the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) as a preference elicitation method in HTA. Based...
